CHRIST, THE LORD, IS RISEN TODAY - by Charles Wesley, 1707-1788 -
Public Domain

"CHRIST, the Lord, is risen to-day,"
Sons of men and angels say!
Raise your joys and triumphs high:
Sing, ye heavens; thou earth, reply.

Love's redeeming work is done;
Fought the fight, the battle won:
Lo! the sun's eclipse is o'er,
Lo! he sets in blood no more!

Vain the stone, the watch, the seal,
Christ hath burst the gates of hell:
Death in vain forbids his rise,
Christ hath opened Paradise.

Lives again our glorious King!
Where, O death, is now thy sting?
Once he died our souls to save;
Where's thy victory, boasting grave

Soar we now where Christ hath led,
Following our exalted Head:
Made like him, like him we rise,
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies.

King of glory! Soul of bliss!
Everlasting life is this,
Thee to know, thy power to prove,
Thus to sing, and thus to love.

Invocation

O Lord, we come together in Your name,
And as You promised, we know You are here.

AND SO WE WELCOME YOU WITH OPEN ARMS,
AND PRAY THAT YOU FIND PLEASURE HERE WITH US,
AS WE, YOUR LOVING CHILDREN WORSHIP YOU.

We now invite You to reveal Yourself,
And share with us Your presence, openly,

FOR YOU ARE EVERYTHING THAT WE DESIRE,
AND EVERYTHING WE HAVE, WE GIVE TO YOU.

In Jesus' holy name we pray, Amen.

The Lord, Himself, taught us to pray like this . . .

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:9-13

will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their
trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
(Matthew 6:14-15 KJV)

The Six Certainties Of The Christian Faith

1. There is one God, Creator of all things.

2. The Bible is the inspired written Word of God, sufficient to guide all
human action.

3. Jesus Christ is the only-begotten Son of God.

The words "only-begotten" mean "only-fathered," that
is, Jesus is the only human ever directly
fathered by God (not by physical contact, but by spiritual
alteration of the mother's egg, described as being "overcome by the
Holy Spirit.")

4. Jesus was crucified, dead and buried, then rose from the dead, by the
power of God, and lives today in Heaven and in the hearts of those who
believe in Him.

5. If we believe in Him, we will not perish, but will have eternal life,
forever with Him.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life." (John 3:16 KJV)

"Believing in Him" means: that we accept the fact that He is Son of God,
risen from the dead; that we accept Him as our own personal Lord; that we
try to follow His commandments as best we know how; that we are always
willing to declare our faith in Him, openly and without hesitation. This
fifth certainty leads easily into "The Gospel Of Jesus Christ,
Simplified," which is . . .

"You give yourself totally to Him, and
He takes good care of you forever."

6. The most important thing He wants us to do is to love: to love God
first of all, then to love all other people the same as we love ourselves,
using His love for us as our example. We do this best by following the
Golden Rule, which summarizes and encompasses all of God's Law for
mankind. Jesus said that the Golden Rule IS "the law and the prophets."

The Golden Rule

"Treat others as you would like to be treated."

_____________________________________________________________

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to
you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."
(Matthew 7:12 KJV)
_____________________________________________________________

Note that He says, "for this IS the law and the prophets,"
not "for this is required by the law and the prophets."

Blessings to you in Jesus Christ our Lord.

I have accepted Jesus as my Lord;
I know that God has raised Him from the dead,
And now He dwells within me, in my heart.
I love the Lord, and only Him I serve;
I have no fear, for I am in His hands.

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY! - by Bishop Reginald Heber, 1827 - Public Domain

Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee!
Holy, holy holy!
Merciful and mighty!
God in Three Persons,
Blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy!
All the saints adore Thee!
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before Thee,
Who wert, and art, and
Evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy!
Though the darkness hide Thee!
Though the eye of sinful man
Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy!
There is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow'r in
Love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name,
In earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy holy!
Merciful and mighty!
God in Three Persons,
Blessed Trinity!

Amen.

The Resurrection Of Jesus

JOHN 20 (RSV)

The Resurrection Of Jesus

_____________________________________________________________

1
Now on the first day of the week Mary Mag'dalene came to
the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the
stone had been taken away from the tomb.
2
So she ran, and went to Simon Peter and the other
disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them,
"They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not
know where they have laid him."
3
Peter then came out with the other disciple, and they went
toward the tomb.
4
They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and
reached the tomb first;
5
and stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying
there, but he did not go in.
6
Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the
tomb; he saw the linen cloths lying,
7
and the napkin, which had been on his head, not lying with
the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself.
8
Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also
went in, and he saw and believed;
9
for as yet they did not know the scripture, that he must
rise from the dead.
10
Then the disciples went back to their homes.
11
But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept
she stooped to look into the tomb;
12
and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of
Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet.
13
They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said
to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do
not know where they have laid him."
14
Saying this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing, but
she did not know that it was Jesus.
15
Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do
you seek?" Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to
him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you
have laid him, and I will take him away."
16
Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him in
Hebrew, "Rab-bo'ni!" (which means Teacher).
17
Jesus said to her, "Do not hold me, for I have not yet
ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to
them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my
God and your God."
18
Mary Mag'dalene went and said to the disciples, "I have
seen the Lord"; and she told them that he had said these
things to her.
19
On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the
doors being shut where the disciples were, for fear of the
Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them,
"Peace be with you."
20
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his
side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
21
Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the
Father has sent me, even so I send you."
22
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said
to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
23
If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you
retain the sins of any, they are retained."
24
Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not
with them when Jesus came.
25
So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord."
But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print
of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the
nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe."
26
Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house,
and Thomas was with them. The doors were shut, but Jesus
came and stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you."
27
Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my
hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side; do
not be faithless, but believing."
28
Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!"
29
Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have
seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet
believe."
30
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the
disciples, which are not written in this book;
31
but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is
the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may
have life in his name.

Scripture With Commentary

The Resurrection of the Lord (Easter Sunday)

From: John 20:1-9

The Empty Tomb
--------------
[1] Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb
early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken
away from the tomb. [2] So she ran, and went to Simon Peter and the
other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have
taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid
Him." [3 ]Peter then came out with the other disciple, and they went
toward the tomb. [4] They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter
and reached the tomb first; [5] and stooping to look in, he saw the
linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. [6] Then Simon Peter
came, following him, and went into the tomb; he saw the linen cloths
lying, [7] and the napkin, which had been on His head, not lying with
the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself. [8] Then the other
disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and
believed; [9] for as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must
rise from the dead.

***********************************************************************
Commentary:

1-2. All four Gospels report the first testimonies of the holy women and
the disciples regarding Christ's glorious resurrection, beginning with
the fact of the empty tomb (cf. Matthew 28:1-15; Mark 16:1ff; Luke
24:1-12) and then telling of the various appearances of the risen
Jesus.

Mary Magdalene was one of the women who provided for our Lord during
His journeys (Luke 8:1-3); along with the Virgin Mary she bravely
stayed with Him right up to His final moments (John 19:25), and she saw
where His body was laid (Luke 23:55). Now, after the obligatory
Sabbath rest, she goes to visit the tomb. The Gospel points out that
she went "early, when it was still dark": her love and veneration led
her to go without delay, to be with our Lord's body.

4. The Fourth Gospel makes it clear that, although the women, and
specifically Mary Magdalene, were the first to reach the tomb, the
Apostles were the first to enter it and see the evidence that Christ
had risen (the empty tomb, the linen clothes "lying" and the napkin in
a place by itself). Bearing witness to this will be an essential
factor in the mission which Christ will entrust to them: "You shall be
My witnesses in Jerusalem...and to the end of the earth" (Acts 1:8; cf.
Acts 2:32).

John, who reached the tomb first (perhaps because he was the younger),
did not go in, out of deference to Peter. This is an indication that
Peter was already regarded as leader of the Apostles.

5-7. The words the Evangelist uses to describe what Peter and he saw in
the empty tomb convey with vivid realism the impression it made on
them, etching on their memory details which at first sight seem
irrelevant. The whole scene inside the tomb in some way caused them to
intuit that the Lord had risen. Some of the words contained in the
account need further explanation, so terse is the translation.

"The linen clothes lying there": the Greek participle translated as
"lying there" seems to indicate that the clothes were flattened,
deflated, as if they were emptied when the body of Jesus rose and
disappeared--as if it had come out of the clothes and bandages without
their being unrolled, passing right through them (just as later He
entered the Cenacle when the doors were shut). This would explain the
clothes being "fallen", "flat" "lying", which is how the Greek
literally translates, after Jesus' body--which had filled them--left
them. One can readily understand how this would amaze a witness, how
unforgettable the scene would be.

"The napkin...rolled up in a place by itself": the first point to note
is that the napkin, which had been wrapped round the head, was not on
top of the clothes, but placed on one side. The second, even more
surprising thing is that, like the clothes, it was still rolled up but,
unlike the clothes, it still had a certain volume, like a container,
possibly due to the stiffness given it by the ointments: this is what
the Greek participle, here translated as "rolled", seems to indicate.

>From these details concerning the empty tomb one deduces that Jesus'
body must have risen in a heavenly manner, that is, in a way which
transcended the laws of nature. It was not only a matter of the body
being reanimated as happened, for example, in the case of Lazarus, who
had to be unbound before he could walk (cf. John 11:44).

8-10. As Mary Magdalene had told them, the Lord was not in the tomb;
but the two Apostles realized that there was no question of any
robbery, which was what she thought had happened, because they saw the
special way the clothes and napkin were; they know began to understand
what the Master had so often told them about His death and resurrection
(cf. Matthew 16:21; Mark 8:31; Luke 9:22; etc....)

The empty tomb and the other facts were perceptible to the senses; but
the resurrection, even though it had effects that could be tested by
experience, requires faith if it is to be accepted. Christ's
resurrection is a real, historic fact: His body and soul were
re-united. But since His was a glorious resurrection unlike Lazarus',
far beyond our capacity in this life to understand what happened, and
outside the scope of sense experience, a special gift of God is
required--the gift of faith--to know and accept as a certainty this
fact which, while it is historical, is also supernatural. Therefore,
St. Thomas Aquinas can say that "the individual arguments taken alone
are not sufficient proof of Christ's resurrection, but taken together,
in a cumulative way, they manifest it perfectly. Particularly
important in this regard are the spiritual proofs (cf. specially Luke
24:25-27), the angelic testimony (cf. Luke 24:4-7) and Christ's own
post-resurrection word confirmed by miracles (cf. John 3:13; Matthew
16:21; 17:22; 20:18)" (St. Thomas Aquinas, "Summa Theologiae", III, q.
55, a. 6 ad 1).

In addition to Christ's predictions about His passion, death and
resurrection (cf. John 2:19; Matthew 16:21; Mark 9:31; Luke 9:22), the
Old Testament also foretells the glorious victory of the Messiah and,

in some way, His resurrection (cf. Psalm 16:9; Isaiah 52:13; Hosea
6:2). The Apostles begin to grasp the true meaning of Sacred Scripture
after the resurrection, particularly once they receive the Holy Spirit,
who fully enlightens their minds to understand the content of the Word
of God. It is easy to imagine the surprise and elation they all feel
when Peter and John tell them what they have seen in the tomb.

IN THE GARDEN - by C. Austin Miles (1912) - Public Domain

I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear,
falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody
that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go
through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

And He walks with me,
And he talk with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share
as we tarry there
None other has ever known.

Amen.

Benediction
As we complete our worship service today, I leave you with this blessing .

EPHESIANS 3:14-21 (KJV)

14
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ,
15
Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his
glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the
inner man;
17
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye,
being rooted and grounded in love,
18
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the
breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above
all that we ask or think, according to the power that
worketh in us,
21
Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout
all ages, world without end. Amen.

Scriptures And Teachings
Luke 23 - The Trial And Crucifixion Of Jesus
MP3 audio reading file at =>
http://www.patriot.net/users/bmcgin/luke23.mp3 - free, Public Domain.

May the Lord bless these readings of His holy Word.

23:1 And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

23:2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow
perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar,
saying that he himself is Christ a King.

23:3 And Pilate asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And
he answered him and said, You say it.

23:4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find
no fault in this man.

23:5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirs up the people,
teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

23:6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a
Galilaean.

23:7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's
jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem
at that time.

23:8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad: for had
desired to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things
of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

23:9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him
nothing.

23:10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused
him.

23:11 And Herod with his men of war treated him with contempt, and
mocked him and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to
Pilate.

23:12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together:
for before they were at enmity between themselves.

23:13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and
the rulers and the people,

23:14 Said unto them, You have brought this man unto me, as one that
perverts the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you,
have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof you
accuse him:

23:15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing
worthy of death is done unto him.

23:16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

23:17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)

23:18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and
release unto us Barabbas:

23:19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder,
was cast into prison.)

23:20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to
them.

23:21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

23:22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil has he
done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore
chastise him, and let him go.

23:23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might
be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests
prevailed.

23:24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

23:25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was
cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to
their will.

23:26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a
Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross,
that he might bear it after Jesus.

23:27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women,
which also bewailed and lamented him.

23:28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep
not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

23:29 For, behold, the days are coming, in which they shall say,
Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the paps
which never gave suck.

23:30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and
to the hills, Cover us.

23:31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done
in the dry?

23:32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be
put to death.

23:33 And when they had come to the place, which is called Calvary,
there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand,
and the other on the left.

23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what
they do. And they parted his clothing, and cast lots.

23:35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them
derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be
Christ, the chosen of God.

23:36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering
him vinegar,

23:37 And saying, If you be the king of the Jews, save yourself.

23:38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of
Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him,
saying, If you be Christ, save yourself and us.

23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Do not you fear
God, seeing you are in the same condemnation?

23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our
deeds: but this man has done nothing amiss.

23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into
your kingdom.

23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Truthfully I say unto you, Today shall
you be with me in paradise.

23:44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over
all the earth until the ninth hour.

23:45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was tore
in the midst.

23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father,
into your hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up
the ghost.

23:47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God,
saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

23:48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding
the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

23:49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from
Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

23:50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counselor; and he
was a good man, and a just:

23:51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;)
he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for
the kingdom of God.

23:52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

23:53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a
sepulcher that was hewn in stone, in which never man before was laid.

23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed
after, and beheld the sepulcher, and how his body was laid.

23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and
rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

CHRIST, WHOSE GLORY FILLS THE SKIES - by Charles Wesley , 1707-1788
Public Domain

Christ, whose glory fills the skies,
Christ, the true, the only Light,
Sun of Righteousness, arise,
Triumph o'er the shades of night;
Day-spring from on high, be near;
Day-star, in my heart appear.

Dark and cheerless is the morn
Unaccompanied by thee;
Joyless is the day's return,
Till thy mercy's beams I see;
Till they inward light impart,
Glad my eyes, and warm my heart.

Visit then this soul of mine,
Pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
Fill me, Radiancy Divine,
Scatter all my unbelief;
More and more thyself display,
Shining to the perfect day.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit;
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven
And sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit;
The holy catholic church; *
The communion of saints;
The forgiveness of sins;
The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting.

Amen.

* Note: "catholic church" here means the entire body of
believers in Christ, not just one particular church.

Scriptures And Teachings

The Entry Of Jesus Into Jerusalem On Palm Sunday
Matthew 21:1-11 (RSV)
[1] And when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Beth'phage, to the
Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
[2] saying to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you
will find an ass tied, and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to
me.
[3] If any one says anything to you, you shall say, `The Lord has need of
them,' and he will send them immediately."
[4] This took place to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet, saying,
[5] "Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your king is coming to you,
humble, and mounted on an ass, and on a colt, the foal of an ass."
[6] The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them;
[7] they brought the ass and the colt, and put their garments on them, and
he sat thereon.
[8] Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road, and others cut
branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
[9] And the crowds that went before him and that followed him shouted,
"Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the
Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"
[10] And when he entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, "Who
is this?"
[11] And the crowds said, "This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of
Galilee."

Poem
"All The Way My Saviour Leads Me," - by Fanny J. Crosby
ALL THE WAY MY SAVIOUR LEADS ME - by Fanny J. Crosby, 1875
- Public Domain -

All the way my Saviour leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His faithful mercies,
Who through life has been my guide?
Heav'nly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him do dwell;
For I know whate'er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Saviour leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread;
Gives me strength for every trial,
Feeds me with the living bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo, a spring of joy I see.

All the way my Saviour leads me,
O the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised,
In my Father's house above;
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day,
This my song through endless ages:
"Jesus led me all the way."

Exhortation
Follow The Lord, As He Leads.

This is from a letter I wrote in reply to a question.
Follow the Lord As He Leads!
Hello xxx,

Thank you for the honor of asking my advice! I really don't know much
about xxxxx, but I do know that the Lord will lead you STEP-BY- STEP to
where He wants you to go. The secret is you must obey Him in the little
things, and then He will give you more and more. Sometimes (usually) it
doesn't make sense to you, what He is doing. You won't see the picture
until all the pieces are complete. THEN you will say, "Oh! Now I
understand why He did THAT!"

So how do you obey Him? How does He communicate to you? Sometimes He does
NOT communicate directly to you. In this case, do the best you can to obey
His will as you find it expressed in the Bible. At the very least, obey
the ten commandments plus the "Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart
and love thy neighbor as thyself" commandment. Then try to cultive the
"Fruits of the Spirit." Try to be gentle, humble, slow to anger, quick to
forgive, patient, meek, grateful. Ask Him to be with you, tell Him you
love Him, tell Him that His love is more important to you than anything
else. Pretty soon, He will make Himself known to you personally.

Be sensitive to that, listen for His distinctive voice. Then, do whatever
He tells you to do, whether you understand "why" or not. Now, imposters
(the evil one, you know) will try to confuse you with false messages. So
recognize that the Lord will never tell you to do something that is
contrary to scripture. So the Bible is your safeguard in this matter.
Also, an imposter spirit will choke on his own tongue before he can utter
the words "I know and declare that Jesus Christ is the risen Son of God
and Saviour of the world." So if the voice that is speaking to you refuses
to declare Jesus as Son of God, then do not listen to it.

One more word. Let HIM lead you, not yourself. Make yourself available to
Him in any way He wants, then let Him tell you what to do.

Each of us must submit to something, even if it is only death. So why not
go as high as you can go? Give yourself TOTALLY to the Lord, and let Him
use you any way He wants. Don't question Him at all, once you are sure it
is Him speaking. He is quite loving and reasonable, and He usually treats
you better than you could have thought up for yourself!

May God bless you in your walk with Him.

Yours in Christ, Bill McGinnis

Prayer For You
"Go Ahead And Give Yourself To Christ"

NOTE: When you read this prayer, try to imagine hearing my voice as I
speak it to you. In this way, the prayer is reactivated, and it
the same as if I were actually praying for you at that moment.
(Just like television prayers are reactivated when you watch
them, although the videotape may have been shot years before.)

Perhaps you are a Christian even now,
You go to church and try to do your best,
You try to put His teachings in your life,
But still you do not feel that He is yours.
You do not feel the closeness that you crave.
If this is you, then say this prayer with me:
* * *
O Lord, I want you closer in my life,
I want you more to be a part of me.
I want the best relationship with you,
That anyone on earth could ever have.
I know that, "as we give, we shall receive,"
And so I now do give myself to you,
In full completeness, holding nothing back.
I'm yours, so you may use me as you will,
And take whatever things you want from me.
And now that I did give myself to you,
I pray that you will give yourself to me,
As bridegroom gives himself to his new bride.
In Jesus' holy name I pray, Amen.

Benediction

I pray the Lord that He will lead your path
Away from the temptations all around.
I pray that when temptation lingers near,

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul.s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man.s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven.s joys, O bright Heaven.s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

"For Help In Finding Things"

The Master says to "Seek and ye shall find,"
And that refers to seeking of the truth.
But sometimes you are seeking lesser things:
Like keys that you misplaced somewhere today;
Or answers to a problem that you have;
Or someone's house that you must try to find.
The Lord can help you find these things as well.

* * *

And so I pray this blessing onto you:
I pray that He will help you in your search
For whatsoever thing you need to find.
I pray He helps you open up your mind
And focus clearly on the thing you seek.
I pray that He will take you by the hand
And lead you to the place you need to go.
In Jesus' name I pray for you, Amen.

This is the story of the good Samaritan, as recorded in the Bible in
LUKE chapter 10, verses 25 through 37.

The Good Samaritan

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tested him, saying,
Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

He said unto him, What is written in the law? how do you read
it?

And he answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all
your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and
with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.

And he said unto him, You have answered right: this do, and you
shall live.

But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is
my neighbor?

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem
to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his
clothing, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and
when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked
on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and
when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and
wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and
took care of him.

And on the next day when he departed, he took out two denarii,
and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and
whatsoever you spend more, when I come again, I will repay you.

Which now of these three, think you, was neighbor unto him that
fell among the thieves?

And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto
him, Go, and do likewise.

Exhortation For The Week
Providing Support and Encouragement In Your Christian Life . . .

An Exhortation: "Prepare Yourself For Doing Good!"

By Rev. Bill McGinnis, Pastor - InternetChurchOfChrist.org
Director - LoveAllPeople.org

The Lord wants us always to do good to others, and to avoid doing evil . .
.

Psalm 34:14 -
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

Psalm 36:3 -
The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be
wise,
and to do good.

Psalm 37:3 -
Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and
verily thou
shalt be fed.

Psalm 37:27 -
Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

Psalm 125:4 -
Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in
their
hearts.

Matthew 5:44 -
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good
to them
that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute
you;

Mark 3:4 -
And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to
do evil?
to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

Luke 6:9 -
Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the
sabbath days
to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

Luke 6:27 -
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which
hate you,

Luke 6:33 -
And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for
sinners also
do even the same.

Luke 6:35 -
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again;
and your reward
shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is
kind unto the
unthankful and to the evil.

Acts 10:38 -
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who
went about doing
good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with
him.

Galatians 6:10 -
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially
unto them who
are of the household of faith.

1 Timothy 6:18 -
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute,
willing to communicate;

Hebrews 13:16 -
But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God
is well pleased.

James 4:17 -
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is
sin.

1 Peter 3:11 -
Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Therefore, we should prepare ourselves to do good whenever and wherever we
can.
In particular, we should . . .

* Always be looking out for opportunities to do good. The more we seek
them, the more we will find them.
* Be mentally prepared to act when the opportunity is there, recognizing
that you intend to act, and not just to think about it.

* Learn how to perform a variety of good deeds, in advance of the
opportunities, so that you will know what to do when the time comes. For
example, learn how to place a 911 call, including how to describe the
exact location you are calling from; learn how to change an automobile
tire, so that you can do it quickly and safely; learn how to administer
First Aid or CPR, if you are able; learn how to put out a fire with a fire
extinguisher; learn how to direct traffic, if necessary; learn how to give
clear instructions to others, so there is no misunderstanding; learn how
to step forward to offer your help to others; and many other things you
can think of yourself. Practice everything in advance, so you will be
ready when the time comes.

* Make sure you have access to the right supplies and equipment you may
need. For example, a cell phone; a small fire extinguisher in your car;
drinking water in your car; blankets in your car; first-aid supplies; food
for emergencies; a change of clothes in your car; a small supply of money
you are prepared to give away; perhaps an umbrella; paper towels; and many
other things you can think of.

* Always stay in close contact with Lord, praying freely and easily to Him
in a conversational manner -- acting as His helper and His agent in the
world. Be sensitive to His promptings, and follow them. Pray for His help,
perhaps with words like these: "Dear Lord, please help me to act for good
in this situation. Please put the right thoughts in my mind, the right
words in my mouth, and the right actions in my hands and feet. Please give
me whatever I need to do whatever You want me to do. Amen."

Benediction

I pray the Lord that He will lead your path
Away from the temptations all around.
I pray that when temptation lingers near,
The Lord will lead you not into its reach.
But if temptation grabs you as you pass,
I pray the Lord that you will struggle free.
In Jesus' holy name I pray, Amen.

Blessings to you in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Opening Song - "Be Thou My Vision"
Unframed view at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_qL6FNwEsY

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;

Prayer For You
For Help In Finding Things

NOTE: When you read this prayer, try to imagine hearing my voice as I
speak
it to you. In this way, the prayer is reactivated, and it is the same
as if I were actually praying for you at that moment.
(Just like television prayers are reactivated when you watch
them, although the videotape may have been shot years before.)

"For Help In Finding Things"

The Master says to "Seek and ye shall find,"
And that refers to seeking of the truth.
But sometimes you are seeking lesser things:
Like keys that you misplaced somewhere today;
Or answers to a problem that you have;
Or someone's house that you must try to find.
The Lord can help you find these things as well.

* * *
